Interior Designer Interview
Anna Fleming
Anna Fleming is an interior designer based in Florida. She owns her own firm called Anna Victoria Interior Design. Her firm is mostly high-end residential work. The reason she became in interior designer was because she loved the visual arts. The opportunities in residential interior design were amazing but not so much in commercial.
When talking with Anna Fleming, she gave some really good advice including that it is hard when you first start out but as you go one, it is like muscle memory. In the beginning, it is especially harder since there is a lot of tools you need to learn.
Some software programs that are important to learn while still in school are programs like AutoCAD, Sketchup, Kuula, and Revit for more commercial’s designs.
She shared some challenges that students have faced as learning interior design. This includes, time management, balancing classes with personal life and other classes.
One thing that stuck out to me when she was talking is that one of the most important skills as an interior designer that you need to be successful is learning how to teach yourself things. To be your own teacher is such an important life skill in this profession.
