Interior design
It all begins with an idea.
Interior Design is the art and process of making one’s space come to life. When I think of interior design, think about a plain space coming to life through color and design. You also have to think about the design through function. It is not always about being pretty but also about being functional. Making things flow through a room. You also have to look at it through the construction side of it. You have to make sure it is up to code, and it is going to be safe for everyone around you. Design has a budget, it has planning, there are goals set, there’s coordination and planning. There is also collaboration. Having an open mind when being in the field and working with other people is key. Interior design is not just one mind; it is a whole team. Multiple brains coming together to make spaces safe and beautiful.

Contemporary issue: Brand identity
Brand identity is so important when it comes to Interior Design because it really showcases the culture and design of the owner and city it is located in. Owners want to make good impressions when citizens first walk into their business and Hotel Indigo does a good job or doing so in their hotel. Hotel Indigo is located in Hattiesburg Mississippi.
When you first walk in, it showcases a lobby that has a nice train design to represent Hattiesburg, that was known as the hub city in the old day. Hattiesburg is centrally located to mobile, New Orleans, Gulf Coast, and Jackson. Not only is there a train design, but there is also a design through lumber yards. That is what the city of Hattiesburg thrived on.
The designers also did a good job of including a local story into the design. they did research about an elephant that used to live at the camper park zoo and included hooks on the bar area where people can hang their purses or coats.
The designers also made nice connections through on the first large landowners in Hattiesburg, the Tatum’s. Their name is in the lumber as murals throughout spaces in the hotel.
